What to bring to a LAN Party?

Whether this is your first LAN party or your 100th, people always forget things. By following this check list you can be sure you have all the right gear you may need.

If you are attending with a computer:

• Monitor
• Computer tower
• Mouse
• mouse pad
• keyboard
• headphones(only bring speakers if the host allows but be mindful of those around you.)
• A surge protector and power cables for ALL of your devices!
• 10 foot RJ45 Network cable(Longer may be better)
• Any Neccessary adapters(eg. VGA/DVI, usb/ps2)
• A CD Wallet that contains any games you may be interested in playing

Misc:

• Make sure your computer has a Network/NIC card
• Virus protection programs (Several can be found on the forums)
• Check all of your network shares
• Any food or drinks that you may want to bring

If you are attending with a console:

• Television (Unless otherwise specified)
• Console System
• Controllers(as many as you have!!!)
• A surge protector and power cables for your devices!
• 10 foot RJ45 Network cable(Longer may be better)
• A CD wallet containing any games you may be interested in playing

A few Other Tips

It is wise to bring a bag or small bin and keep any of your items in there unless someone needs it. Also, marking things like your controllers, networks wires, and the like with either a marker or peice of tape can always help if your equipment gets misplaced. Also, be sure to check with the host of the party. Usually, they will have all of the necessary equipment already but sometimes things like extra chairs, a switch, or extension cord can come in handy.
