Start throwing out days and ideas for a firehall lan at the Youngstown firehall. I was thinking the area around spring break.
We can probably charge 5 bucks a person at the door to pay for a good gigabit switch.
let me know asap what you guys want and ill get the hall reserved. |

this sounds like a good idea, where abouts is the firehall located, obviously youngstown but do you have an address?
as for dates i would think a weekend, friday to saturday thing, would be good. you would also need to know if they will allow over night stays. _________________

Map
theres the map, 625 3rd St in ytown.
It would have to be a sat-sun because the 2 members are both busy sat. mornings(myself and another person). Overnight shouldnt be an issue, parties usually don end til 3-4am anyways so, if its an issue with them ill resolve it.
Wireless internet, bar with fridges and ice maker (im going to say now that this will be a dry/drug free lan as of now, I will let you know if those over the age of 21 can drink later on). We have a projector mounted with a screen in the lan area, including wired ethernet hookup.
Would like to keep this a console free lan, posslbly allow ONE wii to hook up to the projector for people who want to get up and move around a bit.
Hall can fit as many people as we can get, we will have to look at the power constraints of the system (dan, let me know and we can go and look at this together whenever we get a chance, I have a key so its not an issue).
I was thinking we would do an at the door fee to pay for a good gig hub (i don't remember what the outcome was for the gigabit).
We need to have a date set NO LATER than the first monday of feb. at 7:00 pm. |

Will there be no fee for rental since you work there?
Sounds good to me though, I'm in for sure _________________ شيشة شيشة

I support the purchase of the Gigabit switch through having everyone purchase a minor fee.
March 21 - 30 Spring recess for NCCC
March 8 - 16 spring recess for UB
Easter is March 23.
So I am leaning towards either March 8-9 or March 29-30. Open to other suggestions, just throughing out dates that may work better with school and since a majority go to one of the above... _________________ You don't have to be be tall to play big

im about 90% on an overnight as of now (parties usually last til 4am anyways so a few more hours shouldnt be an issue).
What other details do you want (other than whats in posts above).
I talked to our president and we are going to have to throw a small amount of $ at the hall in order for us to get the hall for free. Ill work that out though, won't be an issue. Im talking to dan about it tomorrow so ill let everyone know more details as they emerge. |

yes, more info is needed, plus are the old LAN mods from the other forum going to mod this LAN, help with setup and breakdown as well as make sure everything is running the way its supposed to.
i would be willing to lend a hand, just let me know if you need help, and when to show up if you do.
how large of a lan are we trying to get this to be, invite as many will come? _________________

What info do u want..not quite sure what else you are looking for.
Im proposing to the hall 50 people or less, 16yrs and over. I would prefer to have this be people that usually are invited to lans (aka, dont post a flyer at your school telling people to show up.) Fee will be 10 dollars or less, still working that out.
This lan is going to take a lot less planning and work than the other firehall lans simply because I have a key. We will be able to go the day before and set everything up and run cables. Dan and I are going this weekend to map out circuits.
Go over and vote on dates. First and second top dates will be used (need a tenative date in case of prior booking). |

well are you going to need the other lan mods, or are you and dan going to get all the setup and that sort done by yourselves?
as i said i would be willing to lend a hand, just let me know. _________________

Well, for the lan itself the lan mods are going to be separated from the others....so we will be the go to people for problems.
As far as set up, me and dan should be able to polish that out in less than an hour (tables are light and chairs have those chair dollies). Me and dan (and a fwe firehall people) will do the setup on friday night most likely (tables, chairs, power cords and network.) That way, come sat evening, all we have to do is hook up switches and call it a night. I think we will need help with take down though.
As I said, with me having a key, we can start doing the small stuff now so come sat morning, we aren't running around looking for a keyholder like in Lew 1.
Also, do people want to pay ahead of time for food and have food supplied, or do we want to have a small entrance fee and have everyone bring/order their own food? |

well, i would give people the chance to pay early and put them on a list so when they come into the lan and have already paid they can go right in. this will also help with the cost of the switch too.
as for food, i think we should post something saying that we will be ordering food at a specific time and if they want to eat this food they need to let us know ahead of time so we know how much to order, and how much to charge. _________________

I liked the way massivelan handled it. Bought a decient amount of pizza, then charged by the slice. No food without payment, no mooching imo, shit is expensive nowadays. We would need to be able to pay for it in full first, and there is a chance of not selling all the pizza of course, but this seems to be the best way to handle it. Then if they dont want it, they are free to go whereever they want for food. Since were serving so many people, food has to be simple.
Also, if you have need of my switch, your more than welcome to it. If you need any help I can make myself available as well, as long as I know ahead of time. _________________
