LANMinds Wed. Night Gaming night!

We will be hanging out in our Ventrilo server and playing a game of our choice for the night! Please join us on Wed. starting today (7/15/09) at 8:00pm and every Wednesday after that at 8pm!

As the events pick up and we decide on some regular games to play weekly, I'll be happy to pick up a managed game server for games like CoD4, TF2, and etc so we have somewhere dedicated to play.

A game that I would recommend that some of my room mates have been paying is Combat Arms. Its free, has a good amount of people playing it and easy to get.

Load up steam, every weekend they have a 'weekend deal' with games at 50% or more off. They also have most of the classics for cheap. Team Fortress 2 is only $20.

CoD4 sounds good to me, but I used the refer a friend thing for TF2 at massivelan, so I dont have that

Just read the quick info on Combat Arms - sounds interesting. Is this a "true" FPS shooter ? As in aim dependent ? Or is the type of MMO shooter we've seen in the past where aim is taken partially into account, but so is background math in terms of "to hit" numbers etc. Basically is it pure point and shoot or does the game "calculate" a formula to see if you hit.

Another question is - it sounds like to get "good" weapons you have to pay for it - is there a very large disparity between the "pay for" weapons and the "free" weapons ?

I tried out Combat Arms two nights ago. Not really sure I like it. It's definitely graphically ugly, and the hit boxes are not fantastic. No iron-sights, something I miss now that it's nearly standard in many games.

Cheating abounds, in the 2 hours I played I ran into at least 4 blatant cheaters. 'Buying' your weapons and attachments seemed over the top and there were few 'permanent' buys of the smaller attachments and such.

Would definitely rather play CoD4/5 or something a little more well made.
